National Agricultural Week is an event that takes place at Ferrum College annually. This year, the Ferrum Agriculture Club and Collegiate Young Farmers hosted agricultural week from Mar. 22 to Mar. 26. These organizations used this week as a time to inform the Ferrum campus about the importance of agriculture.
Each day of the week, the organizations held events on the Quad outside Franklin Hall and the Panther’s Den. These events were based on the five emphasis areas that Ferrum offers within the agriculture sciences major. These areas include horticulture, animal science, equine studies, agriculture business, and crop science.
Activities this year included petting goats from the Titmus Agriculture Center, getting photos with Dr. Brubaker’s horses Dandy and Levi, playing cornhole, coloring, and painting a flower pot.

“We take this opportunity every year to educate others about agriculture, its importance, and have some fun while doing it,” sophomore and Agriculture Club member Madison Cogle said.
In addition to the events on the Quad, there were also QR Codes placed throughout campus that had quizzes on agriculture topics. If a student completed seven of the ten quizzes, those students were entered to win a gift card.
