About The Iron Blade

Established in 1955, The Iron Blade has brought news to the Ferrum College campus and the broader Franklin community for more than 65 years. Anyone interested in contributing content to the paper can sign up for the Journalism Practicum class (ENG-131) or contact the editor board at ironblade@ferrum.edu.


About the Editorial Board - Mary Stoudt

Mary Stoudt
Mary Stoudt is a senior at Ferrum College majoring in history and minoring in public history and museum studies. She has been a member of The Iron Blade for four years and has held numerous positions. Stoudt has been the news editor, layout editor, co-editor, and is currently the editor-in-chief. 

Outside of the newsroom Stoudt is involved in numerous clubs and organizations. She is a member of Lambda Sigma, Sigma Tau Delta, the National Society of Leadership and Success, Rotaract Club, the Lions Club, PAL Tutor, and Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. 

After graduation Stoudt will be attending graduate school at Shepherd University for Appalachian studies with a concentration in history, culture, and heritage.


About the Editorial Board - Lindsey Foster


Lindsey Foster is a sophomore at Ferrum College majoring in Media and Communication and minoring in Spanish. She has been a part of The Iron Blade for two years and currently holds her first ever position as our social media editor.
On campus, Foster participates in different campus clubs organizations. She is part of the color guard in the Ferrum College Marching Band, the secretary for the Ferrum Activities Board; she is also part of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and their Leadership Team’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, in addition to her participation in the National Society of Leadership and Success.
After graduation, Foster wants to pursue a career that allows her to best practice her expertise in creative media and Spanish.
