Despite the continuing challenges associated with the Covid-19 pandemic - such as the switch to remote teaching and six-week terms - Ferrum students continued to excel in the first half of the 2020-21 academic year.
A recent report from the Ferrum President David Johns shows that 223 (24.83%) Ferrum students were placed on the Dean's List and 120 students (13.36%) were placed on the President's List (4.0 GPA).
Remote teaching, which is a new experience to many Ferrum students, has changed the Panthers' view of higher education.
“The most difficult part about transitioning to online classes was a lack of motivation,” said junior and Dean's Lister, Danielle Johns, “however, I think the best way to combat that is to remember why you are furthering your education.”
Tackling classes in six-week terms, which affected students that were a part of sports, organizations, and employees, has also motivated students to advance with a stronger spirit at these stressful times.
“Balancing a larger workload was a lot on top of athletics, Greek life and my jobs but it was so rewarding to get through the semester with success,” said sophomore and President’s Lister Grace Howell.
As the spring semester kicked off on Jan. 19, Ferrum students have resumed their journey to build more success stories.
