The men’s basketball team won their first game against William Peace with a score of 76-73 on Jan. 12. The women’s basketball team, who lost their first game against Randolph Macon (77-64) on Jan. 23, also secured a big win over East. Mennonite with a score of 82-41 on Jan. 26.

“Throughout the game against East. Mennonite we saw some promising things in spurts, such as sharing the ball, getting back on defense, and staying together as a team,” said sophomore Cameron Hawkins.

With the Panther’s season being cut short, the women’s basketball team has experienced increasing injuries. Injured players include Jess Bollinger, freshman Brogan Dudley, and freshman Daisy Harris. Due to these injuries, the team has been cut short at their first and second game.

“Despite being down a few players, we put in a lot of energy and effort,” Bollinger said.

Women’s basketball team recently lost two more games, including one against Randolph (72-70) and another against Lynchburg (57-49). They will be back for their next game at Shenandoah on Feb. 8.

Men’s basketball team has played against William Peace, Roanoke, Bridgewater, and Hampden-Sydney. At their most recent game against Hampden-Sydney, the Panthers won with a final score of 70-63. Their next game against Mary Baldwin will come soon on Feb. 8.
