Miss Gertrude "Gertie" Goose sent an email to every Ferrum student on April 5, informing them that 50 eggs were hidden throughout the main loop of campus to be found, which was part of this year’s Egg Hunt event.
These eggs were hidden during the early morning hours, with some being in trees and even buried under leaves and mulch. Each egg contained a prize; and students can turn in any eggs they find between 9:20 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The “golden” prizes included air pods, Samsung galaxy buds, an iPad, a smart tv, and bluetooth speakers. Students also had the opportunity to win Subway gift cards and $5.00 gift cards to use at the campus store.
Senior Christian Halley found an egg and was the winner of the air pods.
“It was a really fun way to get out on campus and have a little fun. The fact that Student Life threw in some pretty awesome prizes was definitely a plus that I’m grateful for,” Halley said.
Gertie Goose announced at 1 p.m. that not all the eggs were found and students who previously found an egg were able to turn in additional eggs and students who did not find an egg were able to continue looking.
Junior Lauren Ries was a big winner, who turned in a total of four eggs during the additional time slot and won a total of $20.00 to spend at the campus store.
“The egg hunt was lots of fun and it was nice to see all the student activity on campus and see people come together for something that we don’t normally get to do, especially in the unusual semester we are currently in! Seeing people get excited for an egg hunt was very fun to watch and the prizes were a great addition too,” Ries said.
The egg hunt created a lot of excitement on campus and had students out throughout the day enjoying the weather and each other's company. For more activities students can check their Ferrum College email or visit https://ferrum.presence.io.
