Endeavored to create an extraordinary experience for every Ferrum student, the Office of Student Life - which was formerly known as Residence Hall Educators - recently made a new hire of two coordinators. One new member is Julie Ainsley, who started her position as the coordinator of Residence Life (on Lakeside) and Fraternity and Sorority Life on Oct.1, 2020.
“One of my biggest deciding factors in taking this role was the people and how at home I felt even during the interview process,” Ainsley said.
Originally from Chesapeake, Virginia, Ainsley graduated from Virginia Wesleyan University with her Bachelor of Arts degree. Ainsley double majored in Communication and Women’s and Gender Studies with a minor in English.
Ainsley is a supervisor of all residential assistants on Lakeside and advises the Ferrum Greek Council. One of her goals is to bring a National Hellenic Council organization to campus. Mainly, Ainsley wants to grow the Greek Life community at Ferrum.
“I am a member of Phi Sigma Sigma and was President of the Panhellenic Council at Virginia Wesleyan,” Ainsley said. “So I am excited to also use my experiences to help students and provide that guidance as someone who has been a Greek leader in a similar community.”
Ainsley gained rich experience through working at the College Student Personnel Administration program at James Madison University in May 2020. In this program, Ainsley worked in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, where she advised greek councils, planned events for the office, coordinated the recruitment process, among other things.
When not at work, Ainsley enjoys reading and watching movies, as well as being together with friends and family.
“I also enjoy anything having to do with trivia,” Ainsley said.
